What We Can Cover on Your Call
In-Stock vs. Custom Helmets
An in-stock helmet is already sitting in our workshop in Waynesville, NC, ready to be configured and shipped within a week. Swapping a finial or adding a leather chin strap? Easy- our leather crafters handle that immediately. In-stock helmets are clearly labeled on the product page.
A custom helmet has to be built by Phenix’s production team before it ever reaches us- we’re a distributor, not the manufacturer, so we’re subject to Phenix’s lead times which are typically 10-18 weeks. Name-stamping, engraving, duo-tone color ways, and D-Ring removal all automatically make it custom. Before you order custom, check the in-stock helmets first, we might already have exactly what you’re picturing.

Every Phenix helmet ships with goggles, but on request we’ll install flip-down Bourkes in clear or blacked-out lenses. We’ll show you “blacked out” still means you can see through them.

An Axe & Awl team member will meet you on camera, ready for your questions. Tell us where you are in the process and we’ll take it from there. Sessions run about 15–20 minutes.
