Axe and Awl Leatherworks celebrates 1-year of Brick + Mortar
Waynesville, North Carolina- Axe and Awl Leatherworks will host its 1-Year Brick+Mortar birthday celebration to ring in its first full year of business in a physical store front.
The event will coincide with the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce Apple Harvest Festival in downtown Waynesville on October 15th, 2022. For the first year ever, the foot print of the Apple Harvest festival will be expanding to include growing side streets in the downtown Waynesville community.
Depot street will be alive for its first ever staged performance from 1-4 with Arnold Hill Ft. Borderline Band! Vendors will line Depot street from Main Street, down to the stage that will be positioned just above the intersection of Montgomery Street, and Depot Street. The gorgeous natural mountain views in the background create an amphitheater like feel, and will certainly be an event to remember.
At the Axe and Awl shop, you can expect to find a day full of celebration and laughs as friends, family and supporters join in on the fun! Our retail shop will be open normal hours from 10-5, with a variety of birthday specials that will make anyone smile ear to ear! On tap in the shop will be complimentary beer from Waynesvilles’ own Boojum Brewing Company, served in a souvenir birthday cup to enjoy while you stroll through the shop. We will have North Carolinas Best Ice Cream Sandwiches(Yelp, Our State Magazine) from the High Test Deli in Bryson City to crave your sweet tooth while you sit back and watch history unravel on Depot Street!
Thank you to all who have been a part of our first year of physical business in the downtown Waynesville community. A special thank you to the members of the Waynesville community, Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Waynesville Advisory Committee, and the Town Of Waynesville for such a warm welcome over the year. These individuals and entities willingness to continuously advocate, pursue, and remain open-minded in the continuous pursuit of small business growth in our community is something to be recognized and shared far and wide.
Let’s Celebrate!

Where do I find the leather colors by name?
Spencer Tetrault says
Gregg, this depends on the specific item, but there is a gallery tab in the footer menu that has an inspiration tab with leather colors. This does not have all leathers available, but we can help with that, just shoot us an email with any direct questions.
