Position Overview

Axe and Awl is seeking a steady, organized, and detail-driven Customer Experience Coordinator to lead communication and support daily operational flow for both Axe and Awl and Hook & Irons.

This role owns the full customer journey — from first inquiry to final delivery, including returns and exchanges. You will serve as the front line of our brand, practicing unreasonable hospitality and delivering warm, exceptional service at every touchpoint.

This is a part-time position with opportunity for growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage customer service across email, social media, phone, and Monday
  • Handle Hook & Irons customer communication
  • Guide customers through their purchasing decisions with clarity and confidence
  • Oversee the customer experience from start to finish, including returns and exchanges
  • Receive, unbox, and log incoming packages into the appropriate systems
  • Schedule pickups and deliveries
  • Coordinate movement between workshop and retail locations
  • Order daily-use operational supplies
  • Assist with shipping as needed
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with the team via Slack

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time position
  • 16–24 hours per week to start
  • Starting at $15/hour
  • Flexible scheduling with an ideal structure of 4 days per week
  • Longest gap away from communication responsibilities ideally does not exceed two consecutive days to ensure consistent customer support
  • Opportunity for partial remote work once fully trained on all customer journeys and workflows

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable multitasking and shifting priorities throughout the day
  • Calm under pressure
  • Proactive and self-directed
  • Aligned with a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, and high standards

You do not need leather experience. You do need to care about people, details, and doing things the right way.

Who This Is Not For

This role is not a passive desk job.

It is not for someone who:

  • Needs constant direction to stay productive
  • Avoids difficult conversations with customers
  • Struggles to stay organized when juggling multiple priorities
  • Is uncomfortable taking ownership of problems through resolution
  • Prefers working in isolation without team communication

We move with intention, communicate clearly and hold ourselves to a high standard.

If you are energized by structure, responsibility, and serving people well, this role may be a strong fit.

Our Standard

We practice unreasonable hospitality. That means we go beyond answering questions — we guide, educate, and support our customers in a way that feels personal, warm, and thoughtful.

We value ownership, follow-through and clarity.

If you thrive in structured environments and enjoy being the connective tissue that keeps communication and operations moving smoothly, we’d love to hear from you.
