One of the oldest industries in human civilizations, leathercraft has grown tremendously throughout this nation. Locally, leather has made a huge impact on Waynesville, NC with one of the areas largest tanneries being located right here in Haywood County. Once employing hundreds of local families, AC Lawrence Tannery (Junaluska Tannery) was a driving force to the railroad coming to the area. The tanning process, specifically, has a long history in the Tar Heel State. About a half-dozen commercial tanneries were established across the mountains by local entrepreneurs which soon became a regional phenomenon paving way for other industries further expansion.

Community Focused
It’s no secret, we love connecting with our community. Whether local, or visiting the area, we are excited to invite you into our workshop and to spend the evening making new memories and friends.
